The Lime Walks, York

This concept was built on the need for a space for the semi-retired owners to entertain large gatherings during the summer months. The design was influenced by the historic line of lime trees at the northwest boundary. By utilising an entry point at the rear of the garden and converting an outbuilding to provide facilities for visitors, the space could be divided to provide a summer garden and a more private, intimate area closer to the property.

Naturalistic, largely perennial planting completes the summer garden, with a shady, matrix planting mix in the wooded surrounds. The gardens beside the house provide year round interest, allowing the owners great views throughout the seasons. Pleached limes, echoing those on the boundary edge, divide the two main garden areas.
